Planting rain gardens and installing rain barrels in an effort to better manage stormwater

Planting rain gardens and installing rain barrels in an effort to better manage stormwater, reduce runoff, improve water quality and naturalize urban spaces in Castlegreen Co-operative. Here are photos from volunteer work days held on August 23 & 24, where volunteers created two rain gardens to capture and infiltrate water from nearby apartment rooftops. A big thanks goes out to each of our volunteers, Castlegreen Co-Operative, the Ontario Stewardship Youth Rangers (MNRF – Kakabeka), Rutter Urban Forestry Ltd., Thunder Bay Hydro, Thunder Bay (Port Arthur) Rotary Club, Lakehead Region Conservation Authority, Thunder Bay District Tbay Stewardship Council; the Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada, RBC, City of Thunder Bay – Municipal Government, Ontario, Canada, Ontario Trillium Foundation and Green Communities Canada for their support!
