North Caribou Lake Friendship Visit

n July we travelled to North Caribou Lake First Nation with representatives from the City of Thunder Bay, Fort William First Nation and Thunder Bay Police Service Board. This visit came nearly a year after those parties signed a Friendship Agreement with the leadership of North Caribou Lake.

This video explains in greater detail what the friendship agreement means, and why visiting the community one year later was so important.

Near the end, Fort William First Nation Chief Peter Collins summarizes everything rather nicely: “All of us have to be involved otherwise we’re not going to fix the problems. I think we have to fix the problems, situations that we have in our city and we have to do it together.”
