Lisa Gade reviews the Lenovo IdeaPad Y500 gaming and multimedia notebook. This is a 15.6″ Windows 8 64 bit laptop with a full HD display, 2.4GHz quad core Intel Core-i7 CPU, 8 or 16 gigs of RAM, an HDD with optional 16 gig caching SSD and best of all, dual NVidia GT650M graphics cards in SLI. One is on the motherboard and the other is in the Ultrabay (yes, you can remove it and swap in a DVD burner or HDD caddy). The price is $1,100 to 1,200 at retailers, though Lenovo.com often has it on sale for less. It’s a great machine for the price. Other goodies include a backlit keyboard, dual band Intel WiFi, Bluetooth and a 1MP webcam.
