Child Abuse Awareness

October is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Before this month ends, we wanted to take a moment to tell you about a specialized and important part of our Criminal Investigations Branch. Det/ Cst. Mark Caccamo is an investigator within the child abuse unit, which investigates cases of violence against children and youth.
These cases comes with a unique set of challenges โ€“ logistically and emotionally. In the accompanied video, Det./ Cst. Discusses his investigative work with child victims and witnesses, and how he handles these complicated cases.

Children are vulnerable, and because of that they often need someone to stand up and speak up against abuse on their behalf. If you suspect a child is the victim of abuse, please call the Thunder Bay Police Service at 807-684-1200. You can remain anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or online at www.tipsubmit.com.

October is Child Abuse Prevention month, but together we can make preventing child abuse an ongoing community endeavour.
