In 2017, through a Community Action Project driven by Leadership Thunder Bay, the Thunder Bay Drug Strategy and Crime Prevention Council who collaborated with several community partners including; Shelter House, Dilico Anishinabek Family Care, St Joseph’s Care Group, Sister Margaret Smith Centre, and OPP along with nine youth to create a Photo Voice project.
This project was designed for youth who have been or are affected by homelessness. They were equipped with cameras so that they could create photography that had evidence or symbolic value to help others see the world through their eyes. Giving them a chance to tell their stories and have their voices heard.
The goal of the 2018 calendar and photo book is to increase awareness in our community of youth homelessness and to extend the impact of the original Photo Voice project. Special thanks to the nine youth who participated in the project and brought it to life.
These Books and Calendars will be available to be purchased at the Real Canadian Superstore this week on Thursday August 3 and Friday August 4 at 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
